THE PROCESS
From Order to Delivery
Curious about the journey your songs go on, going from audio files to a record you can hold in your hands? Check out the steps below.
STEP 1
VINYL MASTERING
A good vinyl master is essential to the entire production. It’s the first step, and like many other processes, if you don’t get this one right, the rest of the production will also be affected.
Disclaimer:
Sending audio files not specifically mastered for vinyl records can amount up to an additional four weeks of production time.
We highly recommend if you’re unsure about this part, to make use of our mastering services.
STEP 2
DISC CUTTING
Once your music is mastered, and we have recommended the right master disc cutting option for exactly your project, we send it out to get cut. Here, a skilled cutting engineer etches your music into a master disc in real time, crafting the one record copies will be made from.
Lacquer Cutting
This traditional method involves using a lathe to carve deeper grooves into a lacquer-coated aluminum disc.
SOUND:
Warm
Full
Defined low-end reproduction
Direct Metal Mastering (DMM)
DMM cuts more shallow and narrow grooves directly into a copper plate. This can lead to longer playback times.
SOUND:
Clean
Precise
Great high-end reproduction
STEP 3
ELECTROPLATING
The lacquer is sent to a plating facility where it's turned into metal stampers. These stampers act as molds for your record, capturing every groove with precision.
STEP 4
QUALITY CONTROL
Using your stampers, we finally get to press your record for the first time. This is the test press, which we carefully inspect and internally approve of, before shipping it to you for evaluation and approval.
After you approve your test pressings, it usually takes around four weeks until your records are ready.
STEP 5
RECORD PRESSING
Using your stampers, we press your records in-house using high-quality vinyl compounds. Whether you’re ordering standard black or custom colors, every disc is pressed with care and consistency.
Our production team frequently quality inspects your records, while pressing them to ensure consistent quality throughout pressing and avoiding any delays.
STEP 6
PACKAGING
Each record is cooled, trimmed, and visually inspected. Then we move to assembly—labels, inner sleeves, jackets, inserts, and any extras you’ve included are packed with precision.
STEP 7
SHIPPING
Once everything passes our final quality checks, your order is carefully boxed up and shipped straight to your doorstep—ready to sell, spin, or share. You are of course more than welcome to pick up your records, have a coffee and get a tour of the pressing plant. Enjoy your vinyl.
